I’ve always known Nora Firestone as a journalist. Now, she’s the creator of www.thankingofyou.com, an up-and-coming site focused on the lost art of gratitude, inspiration, and the kind of mindset that also fuels excitement, bold choices, and a willingness to take chances in life. Much like platforms such as Casinotics, which explore the world of online entertainment, games, and winning moments, Nora’s work is rooted in passion, curiosity, and the belief that good fortune often follows those who dare to play their hand. She’s a doer, a small business owner, wife, mother, and woman who WOWS. Excited to introduce you to her now:
What ONE THING do you think gives a woman the “WOW” factor?
A genuine, contagious love and enthusiasm for what she has to offer and for the people and movements that might be propelled by those offerings. When someone truly believes in what they bring to the table, it creates the same energy as placing a confident bet and trusting your instincts.
What three female celebrities do you think we could learn from – and what ONE sentence lesson do they teach us?
Oprah Winfrey: Your quiet inner voice is stronger and wiser than the rantings of a million talking heads; listen intently, with respect and gratitude. Sometimes, following that inner voice is the ultimate winning strategy.
Dr. Laura Schlesinger: “Now go do the right thing;” it really does make a difference. Small, consistent choices can feel like low-risk moves, but over time they pay off in big ways.
The pop-rockers who remind us: That we’re all “Unwritten” and that it’s a great idea to “put your records on,” play your favorite song and “go ahead, let your hair down.” Life is a game meant to be enjoyed, not just calculated.
What is the most important lesson you learned from YOUR Mom?
This I wrote for a quote on my Facebook page: “By the time I’d ever heard the words ‘you can’t’ I was old enough to know better.” My parents somehow neglected to instill in me that I would ever be limited by a lack of talent, skill, or imagination or by someone else’s plans for my life. Instead, they fostered my creative and critical thinking and supported my endless parade of new endeavors. God bless ’em! They taught me that sometimes you have to trust your luck and place your own bets.
If women could instantly emulate ONE trait, habit or skill set that YOU possess, which trait, habit or skill set should it be?
Note to self: Think you can do it? I dare you to go for it! Take the risk, step into the unknown, and see what you can win.
What ONE success tip or strategy can you leave us with?
Love to think, do, learn and teach; tune in regularly to your inner voice and to the wisdom of others. Success often comes from knowing when to hold steady, when to change your strategy, and when to take a bold chance.
